Starting a New Genealogical Year
Juxtaposition
The fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect. That is the nature of life, the nature of existence. We can have both joy and pain, life and death. The beginning of a new year, searching for the past years. Juxtaposition.
It requires flexibility.
I read somewhere that genealogists are the story keepers of the tribe. We give life to the lives that have passed on and would otherwise be forgotten. We pull them back from the unknown into the known. We place the past side by side with the current in juxtaposition.
